Active Learning for Residents
Improving communities by educating and empowering residents
Active Learning for Residents (ALfR) is a unique programme of qualifications specifically designed for residents. It focuses on accrediting the skills residents gain as they work to change their communities for the better, enabling them to tailor their learning to their surroundings, work at their own speed and reflect on real life challenges and successes. It recognises and strengthens active residents' contribution to their neighbourhoods and their housing organisation while providing the opportunity to build the coaching skills of employees.
We are changing the way ALfR is delivered; we want to make it easier for residents to study for the qualification in their local area. CIH will therefore no longer deliver the ALfR programme.
We appreciate that for many of our partners they would simply like to maintain their current arrangements. For this reason we have arranged for TPAS to take this on under the existing terms and conditions.
Michelle Reid, Chief Executive at TPAS said: “TPAS is pleased to be working closely with the CIH and shares a commitment that will allow residents access to a range of training opportunities. TPAS has an excellent reputation for providing tenant training and support and sees this partnership as a great opportunity for a specialist organisation to continue the development of the qualifications.”
Some of our ALfR partners have the resources and staff to become an accredited CIH qualification centre (an organisation that is approved to deliver CIH qualifications in its own right). CIH can offer you support and advice sessions if you wish to pursue this option. Find out more about becoming an accredited centre
