The Chartered Institute of Housing’s Executive Team is responsible for the operational management of CIH and to advise the CIH Council. The Executive Team comprises:

Sarah Webb, Chief Executive Designate

SARAH WEBB
CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Sarah took over as CIH's Chief Executive on 1 January 2008 having led its policy and practice directorate for 4 years. Previous roles have included working as a senior civil servant at ODPM, being Head of Strategy at Birmingham City Council and Director of a community-based housing association, academic research and 5 years as a housing and regeneration consultant. Sarah began her career as a housing officer in Glasgow, has worked for the Scottish Council for Single Homeless and is currently a board member for the Black Country Housing Group. She has sat on a number of national advisory groups including the Housing Reform Advisory Panel.

Richard Capie, Director of Policy and Practice

RICHARD CAPIE
DIRECTOR OF POLICY AND PRACTICE

Richard Capie joined CIH in November 2007 from his post as Head of Policy at the Housing Corporation. Previously he was head of external communications and policy for a national RSL and worked in strategic planning for a local authority in London. Richard has spent five months on secondment to the CLG. Richard is also vice-chair of Housing Justice, a small national housing charity.

Duncan Snook, Director of Professional Development

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND CORPORATE SERVICES

Duncan has responsibility for finance, IT, HR and governance. Duncan qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1991 and has been an auditor and adviser in membership organisations, national governing bodies and charities. He is a board member of HouseMark, a performance improvement consultancy.

Martin Winn, Director of Finance and Corporate Services

MARTIN WINN
DIRECTOR OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Martin joined CIH in 1990. Since 2000 he has been responsible for the implementation of education, training and membership strategies. Previously Martin lectured in sociology and achieved his doctorate in 1986. He is a former Chair of Housing Potential (UK) and he is a member of the Council of Asset Skills.

Alan Ferguson, Director of CIH Scotland

ALAN FERGUSON
DIRECTOR OF CIH SCOTLAND

Alan has been in post since 1993, before which he was a lecturer at Stirling University. Previously Alan worked at CIH as Policy Officer, and for a range of tenant and community groups. Alan is a board member of Govanhill Community Development Trust and a member of the Scottish Community Development Alliance.

Grainia Long, Director of CIH Northern Ireland

GRAINIA LONG
DIRECTOR OF CIH NORTHERN IRELAND

Grainia joined CIH in November 2007 following two years as Director of Policy at the Equality Commission in Northern Ireland. Previously Grainia worked as Policy Manager and as Parliamentary and Policy Officer for Shelter Scotland.

Keith Edwards, Director of CIH Cymru

KEITH EDWARDS
DIRECTOR OF CIH CYMRU

Director CIH Cymru since 2000. Returning in January 2009 from a two year secondment with the Welsh Assembly Government where he headed up the i2i-inform to involve project. Previously Director of TPAS Cymru. Background in the trade union, co-operative and community development movements
