Brexit - what EU need to know

On 23 June, the UK voted to leave the European Union. The subsequent political changes came thick and fast, most notably with the Prime Minister's resignation. And although the dust is now settling, the UK is still in a period of uncertainty.

To help make sense of what all this means for housing, we've pulled together a selection of useful resources and events to help you understand the implications.

Webinar - Post Brexit: What does this mean for VAT »

Join us on 28 September for a webinar exploring the impact of Brexit on VAT.

The current European Primary VAT Directive impacts on the housing sector and on public and charitable bodies within it. VAT, which started as a European Tax in the UK from our joining the common market in 1973, has now spread across 115 countries worldwide. VAT revenues in the UK for the year to March 2016 generated 22% of all government tax revenue, contributing £116 billion - making it the second largest source of tax for the treasury.

Hear from Liz Maher, director of Centurion VAT Specialists, in the hour long webinar which is free for CIH members and just £20+VAT for non-members.
