Showcase your achievement

In 2017 the TAI conference gala dinner will again be featuring three special CIH Cymru awards celebrating the creativity, passion and contribution of housing professionals across the breadth of the sector in Wales.

The winner of these three award categories – New Housing Professional, Apprentice of the Year and Exceptional Contribution by a CIH Cymru Member will automatically be shortlisted for the national Housing Heroes awards which takes place alongside our CIH’s annual conference, Housing 2017, in June.

Exceptional CIH Cymru member

(open to CIH Cymru members only – nominations can be made by anyone working or involved in housing)

This award recognises outstanding professional achievement and individual personal contribution by a CIH Cymru member working in the housing sector in Wales. The judges are looking for submissions which can demonstrate that the applicant:

  • has demonstrated a professional commitment to their organisation and/or the communities they serve
  • made an outstanding commitment to their profession
  • is an inspirational role model for those working within the housing sector and has embraced the ethics and professional standards underpinning CIH membership

Apprentice of the year

(nominations must be made by the applicant’s employer)

This award recognises the contribution of apprentices across the housing sector in Wales. The award is open to any applicant undertaking an apprenticeship scheme or traineeship, in any discipline within the housing industry in Wales. The judges will be looking for submissions which can demonstrate that the applicant:

  • has made a significant commitment to personal development with achievement and attainment in learning
  • has exceeded expectations and made a significant difference to the organisation in which they work
  • has evidenced a positive approach to their day to day work and shown a willingness to be creative and innovative

New housing professional

(nominations must be made by the applicant’s employer)

This award recognises the successes of housing professionals at an early stage of their career who have worked in the housing industry for less than three years. The award is open to individuals in substantive posts or trainee positions; both students and non-students are eligible. The judges will be looking for submissions which can demonstrate that the applicant:

  • has achieved outstanding success within their organisation within the short period of time they have worked in the sector
  • has taken personal responsibility and initiative for their career and professional development
  • has demonstrated that they are passionate and driven about housing and committed to ethics and professional standards for working in the sector

Finalists will be expected to participate in a range of tasks of challenges including:

  • writing a short article to be featured in Welsh Housing Quarterly magazine
  • filming a short piece to camera to be shown on the opening day of TAI 2017 (Wales’ premier housing conference and exhibition)
  • blogging a session at TAI 2017
  • delivering a short (5 minute) presentation during a plenary session at TAI 2017
  • showcasing your day to day activities during a judges site visit to your place of work
  • participating in a one hour twitter question and answer panel on a range of housing-related topics

Winner’s prize:

  • free 12 month CIH membership
  • opportunity to attend and launch New Housing Professional 2018 at The Big Question 2017; CIH Cymru’s high-level strategic housing policy symposium
  • complimentary place at the Welsh Housing Awards 2017
  • two one-day training courses of your choice from CIH Housing Academy and a free place at a one day housing conference
  • winner’s feature article published in Welsh Housing Quarterly magazine
  • one year’s mentoring from an influential and inspirational housing professional

Runners-up prize:

  • one one-day training course of your choice from CIH Housing Academy or a free place at a one day housing conference
  • one year’s mentoring from an influential and inspirational housing professional
