Aims & Objectives
Not sure how to reach key decision makers? Do you or your organisation have little or no experience of lobbying?
This course will assist you to lobby and navigate through the system in an effective way by improving your lobbying skills, to
increase your ability to influence major decision makers.
By attending this course you will:
- Understand how the Welsh Assembly Government works, including its relationship with Westminster
- Be able to prepare and present information relevantly and appropriately
- Identify decision makers, influencers and stakeholders relevant to your work
- Be confident when communicating or dealing with high profile figures
- Understand standard lobbying practice
- Have reviewed tried and tested techniques that professional lobbyist continuously use to increase influence
- Pinpoint approaches that work well and identify why this is the case
- Understand what steps can be taken to ensure results when aiming to achieve influence
- Be able to raise your organisation's profile and improve relationships with decision makers

- WAG and NAFW: Who makes decisions
- Westminster: What is it for now?
- Feedback and Q&A Session
Afternoon Sessions:
- Workshops: Project - Develop a Lobbying Campaign
- Feedback from workshop groups
- Videos showing good and bad techniques of lobbying OR
- Guest Speaker Session: Local politician or special advisors
- Summary: Round Group Discussion
