Awarding Body Fees from September 2009 (until end Aug 10)

To try to make CIH qualification pricing fairer and more transparent, the charges for CIH qualifications for September 2009 until end Aug 2010 have been calculated using a new formula. There will be an initial fee to cover the registration through certification process and a fee per unit in the qualification. Therefore a larger qualification will cost more than a smaller qualification and a higher level qualification will cost more than a lower level qualification.

CIH Award Fee
CIH Level 2 Certificate in Housing £78.50
CIH Level 2 Award in Management of Built Assets £65.50
CIH Level 2 Award in Community Action in Housing £72.00

£241.50*
CIH Level 4 Certificate in Access to Housing £147.00

Centres who devise a course which contains units which together do not make an approved qualification, will be charged a one off registration/certification fee for each learner plus an individual unit fee, for each unit in the course, for each learner. For example, if a centre delivers a course with 2 units at Level 2 this will cost £65.50 per learner.

Individual unit fee for Level 3 £9.00
Individual unit fee for Level 4 £15.75

Accreditation Guidance for Centres

Guidance for prospective CIH Awarding Body approved centres

Our objective is to equip the profession for today and tomorrow by enabling housing and other professionals working in communities to be the best they can. We believe that it is crucial to the sector that individuals and organisations have the skills and knowledge they need to deliver excellence for their customers today and tomorrow.

To contribute to this objective, the CIH Awarding Body offers a suite of nationally accredited qualifications at Level 2, 3 and 4. CIH Awarding Body approved centres are vital in delivering these qualifications.

We set the qualification specification and the learning outcomes of the units and externally moderate all courses. We also set one external assignment for each course which is internally marked.

As an approved centre you will be responsible for developing the supporting teaching materials and the internal assignments, co-ordinating the student studies and teaching the course. You will also market the programme and administer the CIH learner registration fees.

CIH qualifications can be offered on a part-time, full-time, blended learning or block release study basis.

Centre approval will be granted to centres that can evidence that they are capable of delivering the qualifications they wish to offer. They must have the facilities, resources, quality systems and qualified personnel to meet the CIH Awarding Body requirements.

To offer any CIH Awarding Body qualifications an organisation must first become a CIH Awarding Body approved centre.

How to become an approved CIH Awarding Body centre

Approved CIH Awarding Body Centres include colleges, training providers and housing organisations. To apply for approval:-

The assessment of your application will normally include a visit to your organisation to ensure that you have the systems and procedures in place to meet the CIH Awarding Body centre approval requirements.
