CIH Affordable Housing: A Global Challenge Event

13 November 2008
Westminster, London
Booking Code: 15873

About the Event

CIH are delighted to be working in partnership with theplaceteam to bring you this unique one day event. This event will focus on the international housing market and highlight lessons that can be learnt from other countries, such as Irish Republic, Canada, The Netherlands and New Zealand.

Many countries are looking to learn lessons from their past successes and failures, and from each others. In doing so we hope to build visions for innovative and robust solutions for the future.

In the midst of one of the most severe economic downturns in living memory and in the run up to what has been billed as a 'reforming' Housing Green Paper, we can be certain that the housing world is about to be subject to big change.

Affordable housing is one of THE big issues in many countries in the developed world. Post credit crunch, accessing affordable housing is more difficult than it has ever been. In the short to medium term at least, the current model may be inappropriate.

What seems clear is that the way in which affordable housing is procured, funded, provided, and managed in the future will be very different to the systems we know now.

This event builds on recent studies by government, think tanks and international experience and endeavours to inform the policy debate and practical application of innovative solutions for the short, medium and long term.

Delegates will receive a free copy of the book entitled "Visions for Social Housing: International Perspectives" at the event, written by Professor Duncan Maclennan & Julie Cowans, theplaceteam
