Benefits of attending
Webinar description: #UKHousingFast is a social media campaign set up five years ago by volunteers living and working in social housing to raise awareness of food poverty and support the work of foodbanks. The campaign has harnessed the power of social media and volunteers helping people to connect and share their stories through blogs about food poverty, valuing diversity and fasting, to raise thousands of pounds and tonnes of food donations for the Trussell Trust.
These principles have highlighted how much can be achieved when a grass roots movement is led by the supporters of the campaign. This year over 200 housing providers and voluntary sector organisations supported UKHousingFast on the 6th June 2018. This is a phenomenal achievement for any communications team, let alone one made up of supporters many of whom do not work in public relations, marketing or communications. The campaign has been supported by notable individuals including the prominent food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe, Reverend Richard Coles, Nadiya Hussain and Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed.
The webinar will help you understand how you can galvanise support on social media to lead a social action campaign on limited resources to raise the profile of your campaign and make a difference to many households impacted by austerity. You will learn how to reach thousands of people on social media and generate print and digital media interest to help build your campaigns. A great deal of learning has come out of UKHousingFast which we will share around agile project management, digital ways of working and leadership, harnessing the power of volunteers and making use of free technology.
