Autumn Statement 2012 Roundtable Discussion with leading CIH experts
About the event
Be amongst the first to hear the CIH response to the Autumn Statement by booking your place at one of our three round table events taking place throughout England . Discuss the issues evolving from the statement with senior CIH policy makers and peers including Gavin Smart, Director of Policy & Practice, Abi Davies, Assistant Director of Policy & Practice, Steve Trusler, Strategy Director, Wates Group and Steve Partridge, CIH consultancy.
Discussion will be based around the following topics
1) General economic prospects
The economy Implications of the OBR analysis for the housing sector.
Where will pressures fall on the business over the next five years? How will funding be affected? What services will be needed? What opportunities are out there?
What might events in Europe mean, and can we prepare for them?
Implications of government's response to these forecasts - avoiding welfare and housing investment for now.
What do LEPs mean for housinG. How can investment in apprenticeships help the sector?
2) Supply/investment
How will new announcements work for housing - whether social or market? What opportunities and challenges exist?
What skills and capacity does the sector need to operate in this framework?
Where are recent investment decisions taking the affordable sector - blurring between products and provider types, changes in the 'offer' over the longer term?
What future rent/investment settlement will work best?
3) Universal Credit/welfare reform
How are our customers lives / incomes changing? What does that mean for us as 'social' organisations and as businesses?
Preparing for 2013 changes - what more is needed to help housing providers, tenants and their partners to be ready? What cultural and practical changes are needed? What will the focus on employment really mean? How well do we understand all the changes in the round?
Likely impact of welfare reform on housing organisations as employers and partners
