The Chartered Institute of Housing is the independent voice for housing and the home of professional standards

North East Regional Conference and Exhibition

16-17 November 2017, Life Conference and Banqueting Centre

About the event

The CIH North East conference is the region’s premier annual housing event and attracts up to 200 professionals during the two days.

The housing sector is currently facing a number of challenges but housing professionals are a passionate and resilient workforce. This conference will examine the challenges but also look to the future to find the right solutions.

The North East of England lacks economic, institutional and professional unity which holds back regional development. This conference will focus on how organisations and their people can work together to strengthen links and unite the region.

2017 has been a momentous year, with Article 50 being invoked and a General Election being called. This conference will provide an opportunity to reflect on what this means for housing providers and what the impact will be on local businesses and housing in the North East. Delegates will have the opportunity to share their challenges with their peers and discover ways to overcome them.

As always, a shortage in suitable housing and government budget cuts are combining to make it difficult to support the industry.

Speakers will look to the future and share their thoughts on how challenges can be embraced and what leadership strategies can be employed to drive the region forward.

Conference Dinner

The conference dinner is a great opportunity to network with people in the industry in a relaxed atmosphere. This is an unmissable chance to entertain your most important clients. Entertainment this year will be provided by Guy Browning.

Benefits of attending

• Listen to keynote speeches from influential leaders from across the housing industry including the Homes and Communities Agency

• An excellent opportunity to discuss challenges with over 200 colleagues working in the housing industry in the North East

• Meet and network with exhibitors showcasing the products and services your organisation needs

• Join over 150 guests at the annual networking dinner with an appearance by Guy Browning

• Gain eight hours towards your continuing professional development if you are a CIH member

Who should attend

If you're a housing professional in the North East then you should be at this event! There will be topical content for all levels and the conference offers a great opportunity to network with like minded peers.

Keynotes

In these top level strategic sessions, we will consider the state of the North East and what we as an industry can do to improve. Other sessions will cover:

• Regeneration
• Development
• Regulation
• The economic landscape
• Delivering excellent customer service

Master classes

On each day a selection of interactive master classes will offer delegates the opportunity to hear best practice from organisations who are celebrating success in the North East region. Interactive sessions will include:

• Legal update
• The leadership of the future
• Supported housing
• Approaches to poverty

This year we will also be featuring more ‘unconference’ sessions, which will give delegates the opportunity to lead debate and foster discussions in the areas they want to know more about. These sessions are very much led by delegates, though some starting points will include:

• Welfare reform

• Asset/repairs

• Maintenance issues

• Customer issues

• Poverty

• Customer data

Exhibition & sponsorship

Due to demand in 2016 we have moved venue to allow for a larger exhibition area.

With a wide range of delegates attending from key housing providers based in the North East region, this is an excellent opportunity for your organisation to be represented and to promote your products and services.

A variety of sponsorship opportunities are also available.
