The Chartered Institute of Housing is the independent voice for housing and the home of professional standards

First to Know rate rebate scheme and universal credit

Wednesday 21 February, Belfast

About the event

CIH member in Northern Ireland? Be the First to Know

CIH is committed to giving members the edge to deliver great services and to drive positive outcomes for housing. As the independent voice for housing we want to create space for housing professionals to come together and create a better housing system for everyone.

Throughout 2018 we are running a series of 'First to Know' free member events. The upcoming event will cover the rate rebate scheme and universal credit.

Rate rebate scheme and universal credit

Homeowners and tenants entitled to universal credit apply separately for rate rebate to get help with paying their rates. With the number of claimants on universal credit slowly increasing as the new benefit rolls out across Northern Ireland, it is timely for housing professionals to take stock of the new rate rebate scheme. How does the new system work? What does this mean for private and social landlords and tenants? Join CIH and officials from the Department of Finance and the Department for Communities and get the inside track on rate rebate and universal credit.

Event details

The seminar will take place on Wednesday 21 February 2018 from 5:00-7:00pm at CIH Northern Ireland, Carnmoney House, Edgewater Road, Belfast, BT3 9JQ.

DoF and DfC officials will be present to provide an overview of the rate rebate scheme and universal credit.
