There are 6.5 million young people between the ages of 16 and 25 in the UK and they all need somewhere to live. Where we live is basic to our safety, security and well-being.
Making the most of employment, training and educational opportunities can be extremely difficult for those young people without a secure and appropriate home, many of whom have already faced major challenges in life. These events will help delegates deliver accommodation and support pathways that both offer young people a springboard to better things and meet local and national strategic priorities.
In the context of the lifting of the Supporting People ringfence, the recent G vs. Southwark ruling affecting homeless 16 and 17 year olds and the financial pressures currently on councils across the country, these events will consider how to maximise the benefits of joint working to meet local accommodation and support needs
We will look at the range of types of provision and ways of commissioning and managing accommodation pathways, showcasing good practice that you can take back and use in your day to day role.
These special one day events will be of interest to those involved in strategy, commissioning as well as service development & service provision for young people. Housing Advice staff and people from specialist organisations working with young people will also find the event of interest
