Young People
Accommodation and Support

10 June, London - Booking code: 15027
17 June, Manchester - Booking code:15028

About the Event

There are 6.5 million young people between the ages of 16 and 25 in the UK and they all need somewhere to live. Where we live is basic to our safety, security and well being.

It’s not just about putting a roof over their heads; it is about changing young people’s lives and making employment, training, education and support services available.

Young people are facing increasing difficultly in finding suitable independent housing as the problems of affordability and accessibility restrict the options available to them.

With the current economic challenges taking place at the moment, there are an increasing number of young homeless people. As the unemployment levels are continuing to rise, this is likely to increase the stress and burden on many families for months to come. Housing organisations need to ensure they are offering support to the whole family and encourage ways to keep the communication flowing whilst developing on-going relationships.

These events will consider how to maximise the benefits of joint working to meet local accommodation and support needs. We will examine the context of the lifting of the Supporting People ringfence, the recent G vs. Southwark ruling affecting homeless 16 and 17 year olds and the financial pressures currently on organisations across the country.

We will also look at the range of types of provision and ways of commissioning and managing accommodation pathways. It will be an opportunity for you as a delegate to learn about good practice that you can take back and use in your day to day role. These events will aid delegates in delivering accommodation and support to Young People.
