    Excellence in Sustainable Futures

This award is aimed at programmes or projects which can clearly demonstrate how they have fulfilled one or more of the following criteria:

    • Demonstrates how novel use of materials and/or processes and/or design have directly reduced carbon omissions
    • Shows a reduction in fuel poverty among residents resulting from the project
    • Shows a significant positive impact in skills development and/or creation of jobs for the local community resulting from the project
    • Demonstrates a significant positive impact on the wellbeing of residents within the project’s immediate locality

    Who is eligible?

This award is open to all housing organisations in Scotland, including RSLs, local authority landlords, private landlords, and partnership initiatives.

To be eligible, projects should have taken place in Scotland and be able to demonstrate long-term sustainability. Entries must have been completed in the last 24 months. Entries must cover a new build housing project or improvements to existing housing or a primarily environmental project that included housing related elements. Entries must also relate to projects located within a locality consisting of primarily social rented or privately rented housing.

    How to enter & judging

Entrants must complete the on-line submission form. They must include a summary of the project of no more than 1,000 words which should be structured around the criteria set out above. Other supporting documents such as key reports, photographs and plans may also be submitted as appendices to the main document. This submission will provide the basis for both short-listing and the final decision on the winning entry.

Judges will look favourably on entries which address more than the minimum number of criteria.

Be sure to send in your nominations in by the closing date: Friday 8 September 2017 at 16:00. Nominations will not be accepted after this date.

The award winner will be announced at the CIH Scotland Excellence Awards Dinner on Friday 27 October 2017 at Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh. The winner will receive a commemorative trophy.
