The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) is the professional body for people involved in housing and communities. We are a registered charity and not-for-profit organisation. We have a diverse and growing membership of over 21,000 people – both in the public and private sectors – living and working in over 20 countries on five continents across the world. We exist to maximise the contribution that housing professionals make to the wellbeing of communities.
In March the Chancellor announced a joint Department for Work and Pensions and Treasury review of the working age Housing Benefit system. The aim of the review is to look at its effectiveness, particularly in promoting work incentives, efficiency and fairness, and to ensure that it represents value for money for the taxpayer.
Given the pivotal nature of housing benefit in both helping people meet their housing needs and also providing a key source of revenue funding for new homes, we want to open this up to discussion and use your ideas to feed in to DWP and Treasury while this work is in progress and when the review is finalised.
To take part in the discussion and to share your ideas visit our Housing Reform website.
