    About i2i

    What do we do?

    i2i is an arms length Welsh Government funded project, hosted by the Chartered Institute of Housing Cymru. i2i offers support and advice to the social housing sector in Wales on a variety of themes, in particular the Welsh Housing Quality Standard.

    The support offered by i2i is independent and free to all housing providers in Wales, with the view of ensuring that all stakeholders involved in reaching WHQS (staff, tenants and councillors) are engaged and involved to make informed choices. We are committed to working with public, private and third sector partners who are involved in delivering WHQS, and social housing initiatives. Please see our menu of services for more information on support, training and advice we can offer.

    We have developed the Can Do Toolkit which focusing on utilising social clauses in your procurement contracts to achieve community benefits such as jobs and training, at nil cost to the client; as well as the SME friendly toolkit which provides guidance for clients wishing to ensure their procurement opportunities are available for SMEs in their area of work.

    WHQS support

    i2i is founded on the principle that achieving WHQS will rely on people – tenants, staff and councillors – making informed choices and having opportunities to be fully involved. Poor quality information can lead to confusion and even breed resentment and anger.

    Housing regeneration

    Achieving the WHQS across social housing in Wales should and does provide an opportunity to regenerate communities and create long term solutions where there is the co location of poverty and bad quality housing. i2i has developed the WHQS plus agenda, which promotes utilising social clauses, including targeted recruitment and training, as a core element of the commissioning and procurement process for WHQS related contracts. This ensures that there is a real possibility to develop skills and job opportunities for local people, which in turn can lead to improved outcomes for all involved in the WHQS process.

    How can we support you?

    i2i can support you to achieve WHQS in a variety of ways;

    WHQS support – we can provide you with independent advice and information throughout your achievement of WHQS. We can organise and facilitate sessions and workshops with tenants, staff and councillors to ensure that all the information required for stakeholders to make an informed decisions on the matters at hand are made available. Please see our active responses here.  These can give you a flavour of the issues and solutions we have captured in the past through our “Capturing the lessons” events.
