International membership
With over 22,000 members in the UK and overseas, we are committed to bringing people from across the global housing community together to share knowledge, good practice and information. We offer membership to housing professionals living and working in countries outside of the UK. Our international members work in 20 countries across the globe, including Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Nigeria to mention a few.
Benefits
CIH membership strives to make housing professionals stand out from the crowd by providing them with the tools to deliver a first-class service for customers and to excel at what they do, whether working at a senior level, just starting a housing career or volunteering in a housing organisation. We offer a range of resources designed to help members stay ahead of the game and support them in their day-to-day job. International members receive access to a range of online tools as part of their membership package, including:
- Career development resources
- Online access to newsletters and briefings – including practice briefs, Housing magazine, CIH news and views, Housingworld and Policy and practice focus
Fees
International members pay a discounted rate for their membership subscription. The fee depends on the grade of membership and the members’ country of residence (fee bands are based on the World Bank Classifications).

International specification for CIHCM
Universities and Colleges outside the UK can develop housing qualifications at undergraduate and postgraduate level for accreditation with CIH, to allow international members to progress to Chartered membership.
Our international specification for CIHCM provides guidance to potential new centres when planning their programmes in housing.
In the first instance please contact Roger Keller, Head of Education, on roger.keller@cih.org to discuss your plans.
