Grades
CIH Member grades are structured in a way to ensure that there is a grade of membership for everyone working in the housing sector. Most new members of the CIH will join the CIH as one of two grades – as an Affiliate or Student. The links below provide information about the different membership grades.

- Affiliate Member
Affiliate membership is open to anybody who has an interest in housing but does not hold a CIH approved qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Student Member
Student membership is available to anybody who is currently undertaking a housing course recognised by the CIH.
- Housing Practitioner - Cert CIH
Practitioner membership denotes that the individual has a housing related qualification recognised by the CIH at Level 3 or above.
- Associate Member - ACIH
Associate membership recognises that someone is professionally qualified in another discipline other than housing. Applicants for this grade of membership are required to attend an interview.
- Corporate Member - MCIH
Corporate membership denotes that the individual is professionally qualified in housing including completion of the Test of Professional Practice (TPP), or an APEX programme.
- Fellow - FCIH
Fellowship status denotes that an individual is a senior member of the housing profession.
