CIH welcomes new Housing Minister Mark Prisk
The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) has bid farewell to outgoing Housing Minister Grant Shapps and welcomes the newly appointed Mark Prisk.
Grainia Long, chief executive at CIH, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mark Prisk to housing. You have joined the industry at a time which could not be more important – housing as we have seen already this week is a fundamental driver of economic growth and we hope you will ensure that housing is upfront and central to government and economic policy.
“We face a housing crisis that needs urgent action and the role of the Housing Minister is crucial in addressing it. I extend my personal congratulations Minister and invite you to meet with CIH and our members soon.”

Greg Clark replaced by Nick Boles as Planning Minister
Grainia Long, chief executive at CIH, said: “Outgoing Planning Minister Greg Clark leaves having overseen much needed institutional change to the planning framework. We warmly welcome Nick Boles as the new Planning Minister.
“There is still much to be done in terms of housing output looking at local government capacity and understanding local housing markets, which are critical to implementation.”
Grant Shapps steps down as Housing Minister and becomes the new Conservative Party co-chairman
Grainia Long, chief executive at CIH, said: “Grant enjoyed an extended tenure in the housing brief as both Shadow and then Housing Minister. One of his greatest achievements was to push through the changes to local authority self financing, something that CIH was instrumental in campaigning for.
"Grant was able to look beyond self-financing’s origins as a policy adopted by the previous Labour administration, taking the politics out of the policy and concentrating instead on the benefits to residents and communities across the country. I would personally like to wish Grant the very best of luck in his new position as Conservative Party co-chairman."
