Housing Heroes of 2010 receive their awards


Fifteen unsung heroes of housing received awards today at the second Annual Housing Heroes Awards hosted by the Chartered Institute of Housing and Inside Housing Magazine.

The awards were presented by BBC TV Personality Ben Fogle at the Hilton Hotel in London in front of 600 guests. The full Roll of Honour includes:

Inspirational Tenant of the Year: Cherie Tinenti – Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing

Inspirational Mentor of the Year: Richard Husband – Worcester Community Housing

Inspirational Colleague of the Year: Francis Kabia – Brent Housing Partnership

Inspirational Leader of the Year: Neil Biddiscombe – Advantage SW

Inspirational Board Member of the Year: Kate Willis – Glasgow Housing Association

Career Development Star of the Year: Dawn Aston-Adams – Wolverhampton Homes

Information Technology Team of the Year: Cadarn Housing Group

Development Team of the Year: Derbyshire Dales Development Team

Ground Breaking Service Team of the Year Award: Moneyline Cymru

Frontline Housing Team of the Year: Liverpool Mutual Housing

Tenant Empowerment Team of the Year: Poplar HARCA

Human Resources Team of the Year: Shepherds Bush Housing Group

Support/Care Team of the Year: The Cyrenians

Procurement Team of the Year: Wolverhampton Homes

Maintenance Team of the Year: Wrekin Housing Trust

The Chartered Institute of Housing’s Kathy Hanson said: "The Awards have quickly caught the imagination of the housing world and we received over 300 entries. The winners, and all of today’s runners-up, deserve our praise and recognition. Their individual achievements are remarkable. Collectively, they show what an outstanding contribution the housing sector makes to communities and lives up and down the country."
