Message from your South West board chair
Barbara Shaw, chief executive at Westward Housing and CIH South West board chair, brings members up to date with what the board has been up to.
The South West board has spent some time considering how it provides added value for members and ensures CIH continues to succeed in what are currently challenging times for us all. We’ve taken soundings from our members through a SW survey to hear what they would like to see delivered and this will shape our activities going forward.
We have also reviewed our conference and have taken the decision to move from Torquay to Bristol to assist in reinvigorating the event. We also held an exhibitors meeting to hear their views and opinions on how the conference could work better for them and delegates. We were delighted that on the day of the meeting seven out of the ten who attended signed up to exhibit in 2017, which is a great start. Our next steps are to carefully consider the programme and ensure it is relevant and well balanced between the relevant functions within housing.
We’ve also had new board members join us which helps reinvigorate the board, bringing fresh ideas and new ways of doing things.
From OneCIH we are extremely conscious of the need to make all of our events successful and to provide added value. In the South West we have taken this on board and know that we have begun this journey.
