Celebrating Scotland's housing leaders: who will you nominate?
Read the latest blog from CIH Scotland's policy and practice manager Ashley Campbell on how you can nominate for this year's Inside Housing Scottish Leaders' List.
A short film showing highlights of CIH Scotland’s Housing Festival was uploaded this week thanks to our talented colleague, the one and only @notTHEJonBarnes (you’re the only Jon Barnes for us!) Looking back at some of the sessions and speakers, it’s hard not to be inspired by the dedication and enthusiasm of the housing sector in Scotland.
Over the two day conference the main stage was shared by speakers from across the UK and further afield. We welcomed Juha Kaakinen from the Y Foundation in Finland which has been working to eradicate homelessness through Housing First, prompting the question – why haven’t we solved homelessness yet? Other sessions addressed land, planning and housing supply, social security and the need for better links with health and social care services.
Our Festival ‘Fringe’ tent hosted speakers with practical experience of homelessness and housing issues including people who had been released from prison, refugees and frontline housing practitioners.
We already know that the housing sector in Scotland is full of talented people but sometimes it’s good to let everyone else know too! That’s why CIH Scotland is supporting Inside Housing’s Scottish Leaders List. The competition seeks to recognise and showcase the people who are making a difference to housing in Scotland by demonstrating outstanding leadership.
Nominations are open now and you have until 21 April to get your applications in. You can find more information about the competition criteria and eligibility here and you can fill in an application form here. Good luck!
