Congratulations on being first!
CIH Scotland congratulates the first letting agents to complete the LETWELL programme and the associated CIH level 3 certificate in letting and managing residential property.
Around 50 of the now 84 graduates met with Kevin Stewart MSP, Minister for Local Government and Housing, at the Council of Letting Agent’s ‘The Agency Business’ conference in Glasgow last week to celebrate completion of the LETWELL programme and gaining their qualification through CIH Scotland.
At the event Local Government and Housing Minister, Kevin Stewart, said: “Letting agent regulation is an important tool to raise standards of service and support professional excellence across the sector.” He went on to add: “I am pleased to have the support of the industry’s professional bodies as we work together to raise standards across the board. I would urge letting agents to make good use of the available time to ensure they know what will be expected of them within this new regulatory framework and to follow the example set by these learners.”
LETWELL has been specifically designed through a partnership between CIH Scotland and Landlord Accreditation Scotland (LAS) to enable letting agents to meet rules governing training requirements for key staff and mandatory registration of letting agency businesses. The programme also enables agents to comply with the statutory Letting Agency Code of Practice coming into force in January 2018.
Alice Cochrane, a letting agent from Inverness who was amongst the group, said: “The training we received was first class and delivered in a way that really made it practical for our business.” Urging other agents to follow the lead set by this first group of graduates, Alice went on “I would urge anyone in the sector who thinks they might be required to take this training, or even feel it will be beneficial, to sign up as soon as possible.”
