UK Housing Awards winners announced in record-breaking year

The winners of the 2017 UK Housing Awards have been revealed at a ceremony in London which was attended by more than 700 housing professionals.

A huge variety of projects were showcased across 14 categories this year after we smashed the record with more than 400 submissions.

Terrie Alafat CBE, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing, said: “A huge congratulations goes to all of our winners and finalists.

“It was a privilege to see so many fantastic projects from housing organisations right across the UK.

“This was a record-breaking year for the UK Housing Awards which I think says a lot about the organisations, but above all the people, that continue to do great work in very challenging times.

“The projects showcased this year really have changed so many lives and it is vital that we showcase this work and tell these stories.

“We are already looking to build on the success of this year’s awards.”

Emma Maier, the editor of Inside Housing, which runs the awards jointly with CIH, said: "With the UK still in the grip of a housing crisis, rough sleeping getting worse and housebuilding not yet reaching the required levels, it is more important than ever to share learning and inspiration.

"This year we received record numbers of entries and the awards ceremony was bursting at the seams – a mark of the ambition, passion and commitment from all corners of the sector. This is a sector that is working hard to improve lives and solve the housing crisis."
