CIH Cymru welcome extra £30m to support affordable housing target

Today, the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children Carl Sargeant announced an extra £30m to support the delivery of the 20,000 affordable homes target.

Making the announcement at Community Housing Cymru's Annual Conference the Cabinet Secretary further emphasised a desire to reduce the impact of adverse childhood experiences and enhance the impact of housing on other public services.

Commenting on the announcement, Matt Kennedy, policy and public affairs manager at CIH Cymru said: "We strongly welcome the additional £30m from Welsh Government to support the delivery of the 20,000 affordable homes target. In CIH Cymru's pre-election manifesto "Agenda for Change" we highlighted that housing is an absolutely vital element of infrastructure. Today's announcement must be met by further work to ensure additional measures, like the release of land, building standards, and new delivery models are fully explored in order to provide the right type and mix of housing, both now and in the future."
