West Midlands board: manging complex tenancies
On 11 May the regional board arranged for Lindsey Felstead from Clarke Wilmott Solicitors to deliver some training on managing complex tenancies.
Lindsey covered topics such as the Mental Capacity Act, starting and ending a tenancy, a hoarding overview and the Equality Act – including reasonable adjustments, dealing with social media and dealing with serial complainers.
The seminar promoted some healthy discussions and gave a chance for attendees to share experiences and good practice. The feedback members gave us from previous sessions told us how much you value the opportunity to network and learn from each other so we are happy to create a forum an opportunity for you. The session was very well attended and was actually oversubscribed so we will look at delivering some similar training in the near future.
Our next event is our student awards in July which is a fantastic celebration of the successes of student members and we have a training session on sustainable tenancies on 24 June, both free to attend for members. We will be arranging more topical seminars over the coming months so keep an eye on your emails and check out the West Midlands boards website. If there is a topic you are particularly interested in learning more about and would like to us to try and arrange a seminar please let us know by contacting one of the regional board or tweeting us @CIHWestMidlands
Most of our seminars are free to attend for CIH members but there is a charge to non members so make sure that your membership is up to date. Find out more on the benefits of CIH membership
