CIH POLICY | Cymru | N. Ireland | Scotland

Our policy work is hugely varied. We do some blue skies thinking about the future, we shape government agendas, and we support the practical implementation of new policies. We know that if we’re going to be successful we have to involve a wide range of people and our proposals have to be grounded. It’s an inspiring and exciting place to work, as long as you have the tenacity to see things through – shaping policy can take a long time. Seeing things change for the better makes it all worth while.

HOUSING IN THE NEW UNITARIES

CIH has launched a new tool to support district and county authorities in the current round of local government reform.

The discussion forum, LGReform, supported by CLG, provides a place where all involved can debate the issues around the transfer of housing responsibilities, including landlord functions and wider strategic functions, to support authorities affected, and to ensure a smooth transition for tenants and residents.

The site will provide policies and tools to help the new unitary authorities, and serve as a base for exchanging issues and ideas. CLG will also be able to highlight their requirements and deadlines for information.
