This report explores the gaps that have opened up between Local Housing Allowance (LHA - housing benefit for private renters) rates and the lowest private rents since LHA rates stopped being increased in line with actual rents and were subsequently frozen. It also assesses the impact of the UK government's targeted affordability funding, which was introduced to mitigate the biggest shortfalls.
