CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing Practice (QCF)

This qualification has been superceded by CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing Practice 603/0111/7. The final date for learner registrations on this qualification is 31 December 2017.

This qualification will provide learners with a broader knowledge and understanding of key areas in delivering housing services. It is comparable to an A-level or an NVQ level 3, SVQ3 or level 6 on SCQF.

Aims & outcomes

On completion of this qualification learners will:

  • have a broader knowledge of how their role fits into the wider housing environment
  • gain insights into improving customer service and team working and planning for training and development needs
  • develop their personal, organisational and communication techniques
  • develop problem solving skills that will enable them to evaluate their area of housing-related practice
  • gain a greater insight into policy and practice issues directly affecting your role through their selected area of specialism

Eligibility

This course is suitable for learners who:
  • are already working in the housing industry and want to develop their skills and knowledge
  • are looking to specialise in an area of housing
  • are aged 16+

Qualification outline

All students will study the following three topics, which have a credit value of 12 under the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF):

  • Delivery of affordable housing services
  • Equality and diversity for housing
  • Professional practice skills for housing

In addition, students must gain a further 15 credits from the following optional units. The units available may vary depending on the delivery centre.
  • Managing housing services
  • Resident and service user involvement
  • Managing neighbourhoods
  • Caretaking and concierge services
  • Regeneration, renewal and sustainability
  • Support for independent living
  • Telecare services
  • Housing advice and information
  • Traveller site management
  • The housing context
  • Supporting homeless people
