CIH SHAPING HOUSING FUTURES CONFERENCE

As we meet, the new coalition government will have been in for five months. Many of us will be grappling with tightened budgets, achieving value for money, meeting the national standards, all within an ever changing environment. A new political administration will usher in a new period of change and reform which will be significant for the housing sector. Many changes can be expected regarding housing and community policies and priorities. It is now a key time to understand and help shape possible housing policies.

Since the crackdown on tenancy fraud last July, this problem has become far more prominent on social landlords radars.
There are nearly 1.8 million people on the UK's housing registers, tenants who sub let or unlawfully occupy social properties are still a serious problem.
In the current climate the housing waiting list is still increasing, it is more important than ever that housing organisations now address the issue of tenancy fraud and unauthorised subletting.
