Level 2 Award for Landlords ( Cohort 7 )

This programme provides you with the skills and knowledge to be effective in your role and encourage, acknowledge and actively promote good standards of practice within the privately rented sector.

The units of study include:
  • tenancies and the law
  • property condition and tenancy management
  • the human aspect of renting homes

What you will learn

  • Your legal responsibilities including landlord registration and tenancy deposits
  • How to set up, manage, renew and end a tenancy
  • Ways to handle tenant complaints and disputes
  • Insights from regulators including environmental health, trading standards and HMO unit

Who is it for?

Private landlords, letting agents and staff providing advice to tenants or landlords regarding private renting.


This is a fully accredited UK qualification at a level equivalent to GCSE.  Assessments will be set throughout the course which must be completed and must meet the pass standard to achieve the qualification.

Dates & Location

The course duration is 4 to 6 weeks with units delivered in 3 one-day training sessions and some self study

  • 3 September
  • 17 September
  • 30 September

Dates for Cohort 8:
  • 25 September
  • 9 October
  • 16 October
All training days will run from 9.30am to 4pm and will take place in CIH NI, Carnmoney House, Edgewater Office Park, Belfast, BT3 9JQ.


We are delighted to have funding support from AssetSkills NI, with 75% subsidies available for eligible learners.  Please note that certain eligibility criteria have been applied by the funder.

If approved for AssetSkills and CIH funding, the total cost of the course may be reduced down to £100 from the full cost of £800/learner.

All registrants approved for funding will be invoiced for £200, payable prior to the course start date.  The further subsidy from CIH of £100 is conditional on successful achievement of the qualification ( see booking terms and conditions )
