Housing plays a fundamental role in everyone’s life. Homes and the communities in which they are located, directly influence equality and diversity.
This can often be quite a challenge, so the first step is to increase our knowledge, understanding and skills in this area.
This online unit has been designed to introduce learners to equality and diversity legislation in a housing context. It also looks at the diversity of communities and how organisations respond to diversity in order to provide effective services.
At the end of their studies learners will:
- Know equality and diversity legislation and how it relates to housing
- Understand the diversity of housing service users, and how they impact on housing organisations
- Understand the approaches used by housing organisations to respond to the diverse needs of service users

What can I expect as a CIH learner?
You will be provided with a full set of online learning materials to work through and at the end of the unit you will be required to submit an assignment to gain accreditation. A tutor will assess and provide feedback on your work, and will be available to support and advise you on any queries about your assignment.
On successful completion of the course you will be sent a accredited certificate for the unit.
