NEW PUBLICATION - A NEW WAY OF HELPING HOME OWNERS

CIH Northern Ireland is delighted to launch a publication by Rachel Terry that looks at alternative approaches to supporting homeowners in repairing and maintaining their properties. Now more than ever it is important to make the best use of public resources to support the most vulnerable households. It is highly unlikely that the resources will be able in the foreseeable future to allow government to assist homeowners in improving their properties, yet those repairs and improvements will continue to be necessary. This paper examines the potential benefits in moving away from providing grants to homeowners to an accessible and affordable loans-based system that would ensure sustained and sustainable help for homeowners.
