Working for CIH and in the housing sector is more than just a job, it’s a vocation with social purpose.
As a not-for-profit and professional body our mission is to inspire, equip and support housing professionals to create a future in which everyone has a place to call home. We are the sector’s professional body, an independent voice for housing, and the home of professional standards.
We add new vacancies here as soon as they are announced, click below to find out what roles we currently have on offer, or check back later for more. Don’t forget to read on below about what else CIH offers.
If you're looking for a varied and rewarding role where you can make a real difference, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our member engagement team and support our work across the North of England.
You’ll be a confident communicator who enjoys building strong relationships and delivering outstanding service. Highly organised and proactive with a positive, solutions-focused approach, you’ll thrive in a collaborative and flexible team environment and be passionate about supporting the housing sector.
As we continue to evolve and deliver our strategic ambitions, we're looking for an outstanding Head of People to join our Senior Management Group (SMG) and help shape the next chapter of our organisation. This is a rare opportunity to influence organisational strategy, strengthen leadership capability and ensure our people are equipped to deliver our ambitious corporate objectives. Working closely with the Director of finance, commercial and corporate services and the Executive Team, you'll play a pivotal role in building an organisation that's fit for the future.
Leading a small, dedicated People team, you'll develop a modern, responsive and commercially aware People service that empowers managers and creates the conditions for colleagues to perform at their best. You'll strengthen leadership capability, ensure CIH has the talent, skills and organisational capability needed for future success, and lead organisational change that enables colleagues and the organisation to thrive.
You'll be an experienced senior HR leader who enjoys operating at both strategic and operational levels. Comfortable working with executive leaders and influencing across the organisation, you'll bring credibility, commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively while building trusted relationships.
You'll have a proven track record of leading change, developing leaders and delivering people strategies that improve organisational performance. You'll believe that exceptional organisations are built through outstanding leadership, empowered people and a culture of accountability.
Experience within a membership body, charity, not-for-profit or purpose-led organisation would be advantageous, but above all we're looking for someone who shares our commitment to making a meaningful difference through people.
We are a growing team of over 100 colleagues across the UK and Ireland, from the South West of England to the North East of Scotland, and almost everywhere in between!
We have four offices across the UK: in Coventry – our head office and collaborative working space – in Edinburgh, in Belfast, and in Cardiff – with colleagues working flexibly from home and a CIH office base. We also have hot desking space available for colleagues working in and around London.
Working collaboratively across three directorates: finance, commercial and corporate services; membership and professional development, and policy, communication and external affairs - we are a diverse team with a vast range of skills and experience.
As an organisation we get together at least once a year at our all-colleague conference in Coventry. Plus, there’s always a chance to catch up with colleagues, at our range of member events throughout the year across the UK and Ireland, team days, directorate days and in person meetings. We embrace virtual meetings too and have a weekly all hands meeting to share our latest updates, virtual quizzes and everything in between! We truly are a connected UK wide organisation.
We embrace hybrid working and encourage everyone in CIH to work from a location that suits them and our business needs.
No role is exclusively remote. Organisational cohesiveness is important to our overall performance; we value the benefits of coming together with colleagues to enable the cohesiveness of teams, departments, and collaborative working across CIH. This, and our operating model, means that there will be times when you are required to go to your local office, another CIH office, or another location such as a CIH event.
Your contracted office will usually be the CIH office that is the closest to where you live. CIH office locations can be found here.
You will also be asked to join your colleagues at our annual colleague conference, held in Coventry, to catch up business projects, hear from expert speakers, network and much more. These are a highlight in the colleague calendar with all colleagues expected to attend.
If you have any questions about our hybrid working policy or live more remotely, please contact us to ask how this would work in practice for the role you are applying for.
