Local support included with your national membership
Being a CIH member gives you many benefits, one of them being the local support you’ll receive from our friendly engagement team. This means getting tailored development and learning opportunities, helping you to build your confidence and connections as a housing professional across local networks. We’re known for our major housing events that bring together professionals from across the UK, but there are many other member benefits to explore!
We’ve got members across the UK (and the globe), but we want to make sure we give your local area a boost too. We’re always interested in stories and content about the great work you’re doing, so please do get in touch if you’d like to share.
For individuals
Connecting with your regional CIH group (available in England) is a commitment you can undertake that will help you get to know likeminded housing professionals nearby and make an impact on the local CIH offering. Connection could be right on your doorstep! While it’s useful to understand the housing landscape of the United Kingdom as a whole, it’s also important to look locally for initiatives you’d like to promote or challenges that need addressing. Your regional group might help you with things like delivering local activities, raising awareness of topics that need to be talked about, promoting housing as a career of choice, and so much more! Follow your regional group on LinkedIn to stay up to date with ways to be involved and get the conversation flowing.
Devolved nations don’t miss out on this either, with a specific engagement manager dedicated to your country, the one-on-one support for issues, awareness and activity can be accessed with your contact.
For organisations
Embedding professionalism within your organisation will help everyone to be the best at the jobs they’re passionate about, boosting housing in your area as a whole.
If your organisation has a large number of members, or supports the sector in a significant way, we can offer to hold membership benefit sessions for your colleagues too. These will cover topics like the importance of professionalism, how to build in CPD while carrying out your job and how CIH membership supports regulatory requirements. We can cover useful member benefits like the CIH professional standards self-assessment tool, all tailored to areas your organisation wishes to embed.

We encourage anyone wanting to level up their skills, so you might also see members of our local teams if you’re studying one of our qualifications. We sometimes share our knowledge of the sector by speaking at learner centres, offering you the chance to ask questions and giving you insight into how becoming more qualified will impact your job and those you support. Professional development is crucial, no matter the job title or qualification level you possess — we’re also more than happy to share more about the CIH professional standards and how to incorporate them into the day job.
