Two Years On: How Housing Today supports CIH members with independent journalism and insight

October marked two years since Housing Today joined forces with the Chartered Institute of Housing to provide members with unrivalled access to independent news, analysis and commentary. It’s been an extraordinary period for the housing sector: a change of government, the launch of a new Affordable Housing Programme, and a raft of compliance regulations and safety laws coming into force. Through all this, Housing Today has worked to keep CIH members informed, connected and equipped to navigate these challenges.

When the partnership began in October 2023, the goal was clear: to strengthen CIH’s member offer by adding a trusted source of housing journalism. CIH and Housing Today share a commitment to editorial independence and to championing the voices of housing professionals. Over the past two years, that commitment has translated into timely reporting, insightful analysis and a platform for debate on the issues that matter most.

Campaigning for change

Housing Today is known for its campaigning journalism, and CIH members have had a front-row seat. Our recent Every Person Counts initiative shone a spotlight on the challenges facing people working in the housing sector, exploring how to boost morale and resilience at a time of intense pressure.

We also published the State of the Capital report alongside the G15, setting out recommendations for the new Labour government and practical ideas for leveraging private finance to meet housing needs.

Through these campaigns and ongoing research, we continue to explore new ways of working between government, housing providers and private investors - ensuring members are part of the conversation shaping the sector’s future.
