Working for CIH and in the housing sector is more than just a job, it’s a vocation with social purpose. As a not-for-profit our mission is to support housing professionals to create a future in which everyone has a place to call home. We are the sector’s professional body, an independent voice for housing, and the home of professional standards.
We add new vacancies here as soon as they are available, click below to find out what roles we have on offer at the moment, or check back later for more. Don’t forget to read on below about what else CIH offers.
We are a growing team of 100+ colleagues across the UK and Ireland, from the South West to Scotland, and almost everywhere in between!
We have four offices across the UK: in Coventry – our head office and collaborative working space – in Edinburgh, in Belfast, and in Cardiff – with colleagues working flexibly from home and a CIH office base.
Working collaboratively across three directorates: finance and central services, membership and professional development, and policy, communication and external affairs - we are a diverse team with a vast range of skills and experience.
As an organisation we get together at least once a year at our all-colleague conference in Coventry. Plus, there’s always a chance to catch up with colleagues, at our range of member events throughout the year across the UK and Ireland, team days, directorate days and in person meetings. We embrace virtual meetings too and have a weekly all hands meeting to share our latest updates, virtual quizzes and everything in between! We truly are a connected UK wide organisation.
We embrace hybrid working and encourage everyone in CIH to work from a location that suits them and our business needs.
No role is exclusively remote. Organisational cohesiveness is important to our overall performance; we value the benefits of coming together with colleagues to enable the cohesiveness of teams, departments, and collaborative working across CIH. This, and our operating model, means that there will be times when you are required to go to your local office, another CIH office, or another location such as a CIH event.
Your contracted office will usually be the CIH office that is the closest to where you live. CIH office locations can be found here.
You will also be asked to join your colleagues at our annual colleague conference, held in Coventry, to catch up business projects, hear from expert speakers, network and much more. These are a highlight in the colleague calendar with all colleagues expected to attend.
If you have any questions about our hybrid working policy or live more remotely, please contact us to ask how this would work in practice for the role you are applying for.
Don't just take our word for it. We hear from different colleagues at CIH throughout these careers pages to help you picture what it's really like to work at CIH.
XX, qualification development officer at CIH
CIH is a member body and also an education provider for housing qualifications around the UK and Ireland. My role is to work with tutors, the sector and experts to develop our qualifications to ensure they provide the best content possible for those learning with our study centres. I choose to work most days in our head office in Coventry as it means I can work collaboratively with others in my team; plus, I love the chance to have those 'water-cooler moments' that I miss when I work from home.
There's a lot to love about CIH, from the flexibility, the development and support you get, the people and the value of our work to the sector - there's something for everyone no matter what you are looking for from your career.
XX, membership support officer at CIH
My day to day is spent speaking to our members. Everything from helping them with questions about their membership, to finding solutions to their challenges when we have the resources available to help them. My role is more than just administrative, our team is here to support members, develop their use of the member benefits and provide information and best practice for anyone who needs it.
I love speaking to people, whether that's a member on the phone or on live chat, or a colleague when I am working in one of our offices or helping at events.
