At CIH, we believe that your wellbeing is paramount. We are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive culture where you can thrive both professionally and personally. Our workplace is built on collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to excellence.

Our professional standards are how we measure housing professionals in what they do for our communities, and as such we believe we too as an organisation and individuals should be striving to offer the same standards to our members, learners, and partners.

Below we explain what support we offer to our colleagues as well as explain our culture and values in more detail with how they align to our professional standards in the sector.

Mental Health First Aiders

Our team of trained Mental Health First Aiders are trained to:

  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health issues
  • Provide you with non-judgmental support and listening
  • Guide you to appropriate professional help
  • Promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma.

With the addition of having the employee assistance programme to further any support, the team are on hand to lend a supportive ear to anyone who needs it.

“I was struggling to keep up with my work alongside the stresses I was experiencing in my personal life. Although I’d told my line manager what was going on, I also took the chance to grab a cuppa with one of the mental health first aiders. Just being able to have a chat with them really took a weight off my mind; they listened and helped me come to terms with what help I needed to ask for.”

Colleague wellbeing group

At CIH we believe in listening to what our colleagues are saying. Our colleague wellbeing group is a space for colleagues to feed back thoughts, ideas and experiences.

Representatives from each team meet every two months to discuss a range of issues from colleague benefits to ways of working.

Inclusivity at the core

As we live our values and culture as a business, we want to ensure that all voices are represented and listened to. We have an EDI group at CIH who work together to make sure everything that we do is inclusive, they also work with our EDI board members to enhance this voice and message out into the wider sector as well.

XX, policy lead at CIH

What does a day look like at CIH for you?

CIH is more than just another office job. I joined the housing sector X years ago and I love the fact that every day I can make a difference to the lives of people around the UK who may not have the safe and secure housing they deserve. At CIH we live by our values, we understand everyone's differences and embrace them, and in my role I get the chance to give a voice to all the tenants and professionals by campaigning for change with government.

What do you love most about CIH?

I love that fact that CIH isn't just another corporation. They embrace the responsibility they have to help improve the sector, and all while providing a great place to work for colleagues. I know if I'm ever struggling CIH will be here to support me.
