The housing sector is constantly changing, and we want to make sure our qualifications and assessments keep pace. 

Our mission is to ensure that housing professionals are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to meet the challenges of today and the future. We can only achieve this by working in partnership with the people and organisations driving the sector forward. 

Purpose of the network 

To create a flexible and engaged group of employers, industry experts, and policy and regulation professionals who will be invited to contribute to the development, review, and validation of qualifications and assessments. 

This network will: 

  • Provide expert insight into current and emerging industry practice and policy 
  • Help shape qualification content to ensure it reflects real-world roles and regulatory expectations 
  • Validate the relevance, accuracy, and quality of assessments 
  • Inform future development priorities through consultation and collaboration.

What you might be involved in 

  • Participating in working groups to help develop new qualifications or standards 
  • Updating existing qualifications, standards and assessments to ensure they reflect current industry practices and expectations 
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on draft content 
  • Offering advice on sector developments, workforce needs, and policy trends 
  • Sitting on short-term scrutiny boards for specific projects. 

Who are we looking for?

Person specification

We are looking for individuals from all UK nations who: 

  • Have experience in the housing sector, either as a practitioner, employer, subject expert, or policy/regulation specialist 
  • Understand current and emerging industry practices, policy developments, workforce trends, and compliance needs 
  • Are committed to raising standards in housing education and assessment 
  • Have strong communication skills and are comfortable providing constructive feedback 
  • Are collaborative, open-minded and forward-thinking. 
Experience level

We welcome professionals with a wide range of experience, including e.g.: 

  • From housing organisations, the private housing sector, local authorities, service providers, supported living, and partnership organisations in the housing sector  
  • Regulatory bodies and policy makers 
  • Frontline service providers and managers 
  • Strategic leaders and policy advisors 
  • Sector specialists (e.g., in housing law, maintenance, community engagement, homelessness etc.) 

The time commitment and responsibilities 

Various developments will take place throughout the year. All activities will be scoped with an indication on the likely commitment for each activity.  

You can choose which opportunities to get involved in based on your expertise and availability.  

Time commitments will depend on the activities you choose to be involved in; however, it is likely that you will be required to commit time to one or some of the following: 

  • Read documents required prior to a development meeting such as scope of qualification/ assessment and any outlines of content 
  • Attend development meetings, usually around two to three hours but could vary depending on the qualification/ assessment size and content  
  • Review and provide feedback on drafted units or assessments after taking part in development sessions  
  • Complete a desktop scrutiny review of draft qualification units or assessments and provide feedback.
