Social housing in England is a £200 billion industry with an amazing history. This course will provide you with both big picture vision and aspirations of social housing, as well as exploring the day-to-day practicalities and challenges within the sector.

What will I learn?

Across the two sessions, you will gain a full understanding of social housing and the environment within which housing organisations operate.

In the first session, we will look at:

  • The origins of social housing, the vision, purpose and aims of housing associations
  • Funding, the range of housing and the ten types of providers,

In the second session, we will look at:

  • The four primary activities, six internal disciplines and key external relationships
  • Regulation, rights, and responsibilities from a customer perspective
  • The future of social housing.

Your trainer

Nitin Parmer has over 30 years’ experience in the housing sector, working at various levels. He has worked with CIH for over 20 years covering a range of diverse subjects from customer service, housing law to developing policies and procedures. As a freelance training consultant, he has more recently run a range of building construction and maintenance courses. This has helped many housing professionals gain City and Guilds and ABBE (Awarding Body for the Building Environment) qualifications.
