Social housing in England is a £200 billion industry with an amazing history. This online training course will provide you with both big picture vision and aspirations of social housing, as well as exploring the day-to-day practicalities and challenges within the sector.

What will I learn?

At the end of this online training course you'll be able to:

  • Explain the origins of social housing and how this impacts on the vision and purpose of the sector
  • Describe the purpose and functions of social housing
  • Identify your role within your organisation
  • Outline the funding of social housing, the primary activities of housing providers and the six internal disciplines.
  • Define the range of housing provision and the key providers.
  • Recognise the wide and diverse range of tenants
  • Outline the rights and responsibilities of both tenants and landlords in the sector
  • Describe the internal and external partner relationships and how these are key to enabling social housing organisations to thrive

This training will be valuable for anyone who works in social housing that wants a better understanding of the history of social housing and the fundamentals.

Your trainer

Pauline Haynes started her career in the Social Housing Sector and was a founder member of Oxleas Housing Cooperative, worked as a Tenancy Relations Officer and Adviser to the Head of Housing.

She has been a Training Consultant and Coach for 23 years developing and delivering training programmes in the Social Housing Sector, Shelter. NHS, Local Government, Children and Young Peoples Services, HMP and the Probation Service. Pauline prides herself in delivering relevant insightful and engaging training that participants can use and apply to their job roles
