This two-part series offers an in-depth examination of social housing for those just starting out in the housing sector.

What will I learn?

In this first session, you’ll gain a good understanding of the history of social housing and the role of the government in providing affordable housing.

This training will help you:

  • Understand the purpose and functions of social housing today and to relate it to your role within your organisation
  • Learn about origins of social housing and the impact it has on the vision and purpose of the sector today
  • Gain an overview of the funding of social housing and four primary activities of housing providers and the six internal disciplines
  • Understand how housing associations are regulated and registered and how they have evolved in the last 30 years including stock transfers, and the right to acquire
  • Learn the functions, funding, and activities of social housing and how to apply it to your role and organisation.

NHS, local government, children and young people’s services, HMP and the probation service.
