Explore best practice from the Resident Safety campaign

The Draft Building Safety Bill will set some clear expectations on how we engage, consult and inform our residents about building safety.

So, for example we expect forthcoming legislation to:

  • Introduce new roles of accountable person and building safety manager who will have a responsibility to take residents’ views on board and provide key information on building safety
  • Impose a statutory duty on building owners to engage with all residents (including leaseholders) on building safety – including the development of a mandatory resident engagement strategy
  • Provision for a new complaints handling requirement to make sure effective action is taken when concerns are raised by residents

Aico will also discuss how they embed this cultural shift to ensure that resident’s safety is embedded in the core of what they do – as envisioned by Dame Judith Hackitt in her Building a Safer Future report.

What you will learn:

  • Discover how to practically implement ‘true’ engagement and to empower residents/customers to actively engage with landlords on how to ensure that buildings remain safe
  • Learn about key points of consideration and lessons learnt when developing a cultural shift
  • Gain insight into how the building safety agenda can lead to long term positive change
