On the night

We can't wait to see you in person on the evening of 20 March at the Titanic Museum, Belfast.

After a welcome drink, guests will be invited to the ballroom to enjoy a three-course meal while we celebrate excellence in All-Ireland's housing sector across all 12 categories.

During the evening, guests will hear shortlisted entries, as well as the winners in each category. It's an excellent way to hear first-hand about the extraordinary work going on in the Ireland and Northern Ireland housing sector, sharing stories, good practices and celebrating the achievements of our young housing professionals, leaders, tenants, customers and housing teams.

After the awards, there will be an opportunity for you to catch up with colleagues and share good practices and success stories from the past year.

Your hosts

Our first host, David, is the director of insights and operations at The Housing Agency, which is a non-commercial state body set up under the aegis of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage in Ireland.

The Agency provides expertise and solutions to help deliver sustainable communities throughout Ireland through supporting stakeholders with evidence-informed insights and data, enabling supply and demand solutions, and ensuring the Agency and its stakeholders have the capacity and agility to respond effectively to challenges in the housing system.

David previously worked in several state bodies in research and policy analysis roles.

His primary degree is in Social Science from University College Dublin, and he received a Masters from the London School of Economics in Social Policy and one in Business Practice from the Irish Management Institute. He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Our second host is Laura O'Dowd, who has over 25 years social housing experience at an operational and strategic level. During her career, Laura has had experience of working in frontline housing as well as within the community development sector.

Laura has been director of housing with Ark Housing Association since June 2018 and prior to that held the position of support services manager with Supporting Communities.

Laura holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Housing Management and in 2018 obtained a Level 7 Certificate in Leadership through the Institute of Leadership and Management. Laura is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and is a member of the CIH NI Board.

Making this event more sustainable

We believe we have a responsibility to be more sustainable across our organisation, which means making positive changes to how we run our events. This event will be delivered to the highest quality whilst ensuring they reduce our environmental impact.

Here is a summary of some of the steps we are taking to do this:

  • Reducing our event printing – we have started this by no longer printing our good practice compendium. We’re making sure all necessary information is available digitally on our website
  • Where printing is necessary, sustainable and recyclable materials will be used as much as possible
  • Catering will be responsibly sourced
  • Ensuring our suppliers are using recyclable materials where possible
  • All CIH staff will aim to minimise carbon footprint for each journey, and we will encourage our guests to do the same.
