Preparing your organisation for a new era of governance in social housing.

The Competency and Conduct Standard will place clear responsibilities on boards to ensure their organisations can demonstrate that staff have the necessary skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours to deliver a good quality service to tenants – now is the time to prepare.

The new requirements on Competence and Conduct for Registered Providers are one of the most significant regulatory changes for social housing in recent years. From October 2026, boards must ensure their organisations have the right policies, training frameworks, and assurance mechanisms in place to promote the right culture, behaviours and attitudes of staff as well as technical skills and knowledge. Senior housing executives and managers will need to hold or work towards Ofqual-regulated qualifications, and boards will be expected to demonstrate how they are embedding these requirements across their governance structures.

Join us for a vital and timely webinar designed to equip board members, executive teams, and governance professionals with the knowledge and practical insight they need to meet the requirements. This engaging and practical session will help you:

  • Understand the Competency and Conduct requirements
  • Explore what "good" looks like in board capability, culture and behaviours
  • Discuss what assurance the regulator will be looking for
  • Identify priority areas for board development and organisational readiness
  • Gain clarity on how to embed long-term, sustainable governance improvements.

Senior experts from CIH will provide insight into the intent behind the standard, what it means for boards, and how governance expectations across the sector are evolving.

Delegates will also hear from housing organisations who are already leading the way in becoming fully compliant with the regulation – they will share practical experiences, challenges, and success stories as they strengthen governance frameworks ahead of the implementation deadlines.

Who should attend?

  • Board members and chairs
  • Chief executives and senior leadership teams
  • Governance and compliance professionals
