Providing better care for our paid and unpaid carers working for housing associations

Caring for our carers brings together a selection of expert speakers to consider how we can better care for paid and unpaid carers working for housing associations. It will also focus on how we can work together to shape the wider public debate on valuing care.

Harry's Pledge

In June 2020, Harry’s Pals - a trust that supports parents caring for children with disabilities - joined forces with a group of housing associations, alongside the Chartered Institute of Housing, the National Housing Federation, PlaceShapers and Carers UK to launch the Harry’s Pledge campaign.

Focusing on four areas, Harry’s Pledge asks organisations to do more to:

  • Make the homes they provide more accessible
  • Ensure the workspaces they provide are as accessible as possible
  • Support those they employ as paid carers by improving pay, conditions and career prospects
  • Be a carer-friendly employer that supports people with caring responsibilities.
