How can social housing improve homes and services for an ageing population in Wales?

This session is designed for frontline housing professionals working in extra care and supported housing. It’s a chance to share experiences, exchange best practice, and explore how we can better meet the needs of Wales’s rapidly ageing population.

What to expect:

The event will open with an address from Jayne Bryant MS, Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government.

Rhian Bowen-Davies, Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, will deliver a keynote session, sharing her perspective on the opportunities and challenges of an ageing population and the vital role housing plays in promoting wellbeing and independence.

Delegates will then join one of two breakout sessions:

  • Erosh Benchmarking Project – Findings and Innovative Practice
Discovering insights from Erosh’s 2025 Benchmarking Project and learning from pioneering initiatives such as Trivallis’ Age Well – Live Well programme and Cardiff Council’s approach to developing age-friendly homes.
  • Responding to Complexity: Managing Risk and Behaviour in Older People’s Housing
Exploring strategies for managing complex needs, tackling antisocial behaviour, and building strong partnerships to maintain safe, supportive housing communities.

Who can attend?

The event is open to all CIH and Erosh members and will be of particular relevance to housing and support professionals and policy makers responsible for improving the quality, safety, and wellbeing of housing for older people across Wales.
