Our concessionary fees

The concessionary membership fee is £82 per year (UK-based).

This reduced rate applies to your chosen membership grade and gives you full access to CIH benefits.

Who can apply for concessionary rates
Under 30s

Our Under 30s concessionary rate is available to housing professionals aged under 30.

This rate is designed to support early-career professionals who are starting out in the housing sector.

Please note: we will require proof of age as part of your application.

Learners

UK-based learners studying a housing qualification with our Housing Academy or an approved study centre may be eligible.

  • Level 2, 3 or 4 qualification = one year’s membership
  • Level 5 qualification = two years’ membership
  • Each learner can access the learner concessionary rate once only

If you are a current paying CIH member or have been in the last 12 months you are not eligible for the concessionary rate.

Retired or career break

This concessionary rate is available to members who are retired or currently taking a career break from paid employment in the housing sector.

Stay connected with the profession, keep your knowledge up to date, and continue your professional development.

HR and learning professionals

We offer a limited number of concessionary memberships to human resources (HR) professionals and people working in formal HR roles in housing organisations.

This rate is intended for professionals who play a strategic role in organisational development and learning, and who recognise the importance of professionalism and continuing professional development in the housing sector. This may include those with responsibility for learning, training, or professional membership within their organisation.

Tenants

A concessionary rate is available for involved tenants and residents who are not in paid employment.

This rate is designed to support involved tenants to stay up to date with the latest developments affecting your home and community, develop your skills and knowledge, and increase the contribution you can make to your community and local housing organisation

If you are already involved with your local housing organisation, tenant membership can help you build your knowledge further and increase your involvement. For housing organisations, tenant membership can also strengthen the work of tenant forums and resident groups.

Known as the 'industry standard' for housing professionals, this grade shows employers that you have achieved a certain level of skills and knowledge needed to be a housing professional.

  • Housing officers
  • Middle management
  • Individuals with a CIH recognised qualification at level 3 or 4.

Chartered membership (CIHCM)

Chartered membership is the hallmark of your success in housing, it's a demonstration of your housing expertise, your commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards.

  • Senior managers
  • Experienced professionals with an aspiration for leadership
  • Individuals with a CIH recognised qualification at level 5 or above.
