Support for learners in housing
We understand that studying a housing qualification can be demanding, and we want to make CIH membership accessible for learners. That’s why we offer a concessionary membership rate to UK-based learners studying a housing qualification.
Our concessionary fees
The learner concessionary membership fee is £82 per year (UK-based).
This reduced rate applies to your chosen membership grade and gives you full access to CIH benefits while you study.

Eligibility criteria
UK-based learners studying a housing qualification with the CIH Housing Academy or a CIH approved study centre may be eligible.
Eligibility depends on your qualification level:
- Level 2, 3, or 4 qualification = one year’s membership
- Level 5 qualification = two years’ membership
Please note: each learner can access the learner concessionary rate once only, and current paying CIH members, or those who have been members in the last 12 months, are not eligible.

Whether you are working in or have an interest in the housing sector, and are yet to embark on any qualifications, this grade of membership will have you covered.

- Anyone with an interest in the housing sector
- Individuals new to the sector or working in a front line profession
- Involved tenants
- Students.
Known as the 'industry standard' for housing professionals, this grade shows employers that you have achieved a certain level of skills and knowledge needed to be a housing professional.
Suitable for:
- Housing officers
- Middle management
- Individuals with a CIH recognised qualification at level 3 or 4.
Eligibility:
- You become eligible for this grade upon successful completion of a CIH level 3 or level 4 qualification.
Chartered membership is the hallmark of your success in housing, it's a demonstration of your housing expertise, your commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards.
Suitable for:
- Senior managers
- Experienced professionals with an aspiration for leadership
- Individuals with a CIH recognised qualification at level 5 or above.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for for chartered membership, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- achieved a CIH recognised qualification at level 5 or above;
- completed an accredited CIH executive route or experienced professional route, as outlined below.
