CIH launches Emerging Housing Champion Award, recognising future leaders of housing

The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and CIH Futures have launched the Emerging Housing Champion Award, designed to recognise and encourage the future leaders of the housing sector.

The award has been created in memory of Jasmine Bosworth, who tragically passed away at the end of 2025. Jasmine served as a valued board member of CIH Futures from 2021 to 2024 and was widely respected across the housing sector for her passion, integrity and unwavering commitment to residents.

Throughout her career, Jasmine was nominated for multiple awards recognising her outstanding contribution to the sector and the progress she championed.

Inspired by the impact Jasmine made, CIH Futures, together with CIH, are proud to launch the Emerging Housing Champion Award in her honour, highlighting the next generation of housing professionals who demonstrate the same commitment, leadership and passion for making a difference in their communities.

CIH Futures chair Emma Gilbank said: “It feels fitting to launch this award in honour of Jasmine, whose integrity and passion for improving the lives of residents and communities shone throughout her career, and was invaluable to the work of CIH Futures. We hope the Emerging Housing Champion Award will help inspire the housing professionals of the future and continue the level of commitment Jasmine showed towards the sector.”

Jasmine's husband, Liam Bosworth added: “Jasmine dedicated her working life to opening doors for future generations. Passionate, determined, and deeply committed, she worked tirelessly to help people understand the housing industry and the opportunities it could provide. She believed that knowledge, encouragement, and opportunity were essential to creating brighter futures.

"Jasmine was a strong advocate for housing association properties, recognising their vital role in providing safe, secure, and affordable homes for communities. Through her dedication, she inspired others to learn, grow, and make a difference. Jasmine’s legacy lives on in the people she supported, the opportunities she created, and the lasting impact of her work.”

CIH is now welcoming nominations from or for individuals shaping the future of housing. The award is open to all CIH members who have been working in housing, paid or voluntary, for less than three years as of the application deadline – 6pm, Friday 30 October.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate outstanding achievement within their organisation, proactive ownership of their career development and commitment to continued professional growth, as well as a genuine passion for housing.

Ten shortlisted candidates, to be announced on Wednesday 18 November, will be required to submit short written responses to two set questions, showcasing their vision, values and contribution to the sector. 

The three finalists will be invited to deliver a five-minute presentation at CIH South West conference on Tuesday 9 February 2027, before the winner is announced at the end of day one.

As well as sector recognition, the winner will receive a package of professional development support designed to help them fulfil their potential as a future housing leader, and opportunities to share their insights with the wider sector.

CIH chief executive Gavin Smart said: “Working in housing isn’t just a job, it’s a vocation. Awards like Emerging Housing Champion are designed to encourage the potential we see throughout our sector, recognising the dedication and positive impact of early career professionals on the communities they serve.”
