Competence and Conduct Standard: Policy update recognises CIH Professional Qualification as relevant Level 5 equivalent

The updated Competence and Conduct policy draft, released in October 2025, now formally recognises the CIH Professional Qualification as a relevant equivalent Level 5 qualification.

As a result of the change, individuals who have historically achieved the CIH Professional Qualification may now be considered compliant — provided their learning meets all of the mandatory qualification content criteria set out in the policy.

CIH Professional Qualification holders should review their programme content against the qualification content requirements set out for their role level in Section 3.2 of the policy.

If learners identify gaps in the required content, top-up units are available to help them meet full compliance.

The Competence and Conduct is scheduled to come into effect for all social landlords in England in October 2026.
